Hey guys this is Chris. So I know It's been a while since i have blogged but the truth is, I keep forgetting to do so. Anyways, I have had a pretty rough time at church lately, some of the kids there seem to have pretty smart mouths (More so the girls than Guys... Crazy right) and I'll be truthful, I expected more, now I know what you're thinking "I bet I know who it was" and "that kid is always acting a fool" "It's that little Ethan kid right, He's always talking smack even though he can't talk yet" (LOL just kidding about that last part, sorry Ethan :P) but no those thoughts aren't true. I'm not going to say names because in the end you have to ask yourself, does it matter, and the answer is NO it does not. So my question for you guys is to ask yourself this one question, "Is what I'm about to say going to hurt the other person rather than help them". And if you are the person getting burned by someone ask yourself this question, "Is it worth fighting with this person and if so why". I know it's easier said then done and that we are always going to come across people that are immature and want to do nothing but tick the world off. (It's sad that most of those people are sitting in churches every Sunday and singing all over America). Anyways ask yourself that before blowing up. Leave me a comment telling me what you think and if you asked those questions. Oh before I forget, (this is like the 3rd time I've Edited this post haha) I'm thinking of starting my own blog and I need a title for it so guess what.... I need you guys to also leave a comment on what I should name it, nothing overly dorky please :). the blog will be about life and I want you guys to interact with me so I will ask some questions on whatever and I want you to leave a comment answering it. A lot of catching up to do, so let me start with the main event of today... who knew that Jordan would be born on a Wednesday night during a blizzard, two and one half months before he was supposed to arrive? Certainly not Dr. Leland or myself, especially after I had just been in to see him that morning, and, given that Jordan had tried to come six weeks before, we both were thrilled with the thought that Jordan had settled down for the final ten weeks. I guess he couldn't wait for Christmas!

I decided to post only more current pictures of him, because I still get misty eyed looking at how tiny he was in the past. Today, he's just a busy, talkative boy, who plays video games, gets on his brother's nerves, and is one of the biggest lights in our family.

Our next door neighbor has a 'really awesome' (Jordan's words) Harley Davidson, and he asked Jordan today if he'd like to sit on it for a minute. After asking me with a grin that stretched from ear to shining ear, Mr. Don helped him on, and showed him everything on it. Jordan obviously liked it -- A LOT!

Sup this is Chris. So i want to be the 1st to let you guys know that i am about to add a NEW section in our (cough) my blog. Its called Review This Game! every friday you the reader will post a comment telling me a game you want me to review. I will also review a game every friday night. The games i can review are PS3, PS2, Wii, GC and DS games maybe 360 games if L or D would let me use their 360. I can also review pocketmodel games such as Pirates and tell you what pack sets are the best for your ships. I will rate them on a 1 to 10 rating .So this friday post a comment and I will review it next friday.

Lena was born on an extremely hot day during a record hot summer. She entered this world with a couple of health issues, and God miraculously healed them. Our little "Peanut" is the tallest female in our family (not that she had far to go)!

Two Tiny Tigers!

(I guess two posts in one evening means I'm making up for way lost time...) This morning, Keith Hafner's Karate (Chris' karate school) held its annual 'Tiny Tigers' class, an introduction VERY basic karate, for kids ages three to eight. Jordan attended last year, and again today. Also in attendance was my niece Zarinne, who totally enjoyed herself. They got cool t-shirts, headbands, and a certificate, as well as learned a basic stance, block, kick, and punch. They finished it off with a cute obstacle course, and met Leonard, the KHK school mascot. We are so thankful for the time that the staff puts into this, and for Master Terry for his love and patience in working with young children.

Exploration Station

On Thursday, April 23, our church Friday School group went to the Health Exploration Station at St. Joseph Mercy Health System's Canton Center. The kids and adults had a great time learning about the different ways our bodies work. The human body has to be one of God's most magnificent and complex creations!

Yes, the day finally came! Chris decided that keeping up his Afro was too much work, and had it mowed. I wish I could have gotten pictures of Carlos cutting it, but dead camera batteries prevented it. Oh well, here's the finished product, along with just a PORTION of the hair that was cut. All that hair looked like a little black lamb on the floor. Should have named it... how does 'Sparky' sound?

Well, the Washtenaw Titans played their second game tonight, against a team called the Cougars in Howell at the Armory. They (the Titans) played very well, especially in the first half. At one point, they were up 30-23, a big change from last week. Unfortunately, the Cougars came back in the second half, and that [plus some rather questionable officiating at times... no, this is not bias talking, I got it on good authority :)] resulted in the Titans losing, 47-46. These boys are looking better every game, and Ivan is good coach. Here are some pictures of a little of the game (it's hard to get good shots of them moving because the action is so fast and furious).

They all looked good... Joshua really hustles out there (he's quick), Simon was not afraid to stay on his man (way to go, Simon!), Jeremy has a really sweet shot (and isn't afraid to take it), and Chris has been christened 'High Riser' by Jacob D, since he jumps pretty high. Our big guys, John, Tim, Steven, Dustin, and Ian all really weren't afraid to get out there and mix it up a little. Overall, a very good game.

Hey this Chris and someone got mad at me 4 not posting!!!! Now I'm not going 2 say names [Abby, Bepi, and Chew-it-up] but I I'm updating the blog. Now U know what the title is.... DORKYNESS!!!! so let us get dorky. As U know I'm on A basketball team I know I said I was playing WCA but they did not feel like playing us INSTEAD they told us the girls varsity team was willing 2 play us!! Now they beat us bad real bad but that don't mean u gotta have jokes and we have practiced sevenfold since we've played them.... so we R dying 2 play them..... but they won't [they won't play cuz they know we will destroy, kill and conker them] I WILL BE AVENGED SEVENFOLD!!!!! I beg pardon I get A lil mid evil some times. Well that's it 4 I don't think that wuz dorky but whatcha gunna do.

Yo this is Chris I'm new at this so CHILL!!!! Anyway my Mom has not had time to post....so I'm gonna post for her. It's been alright because well....I'm a dull dude with nothing better to do with my life. But I have done something with my life I have watched Abby try to get a sun tan in the dead of WINTER!!!!! Even tho it was dorky and somewhat stupid.... it was funny. BUT W8T THAT'S NOT ALL I've been doing basketball [as you seen on my Mom's last post] we will be playing the jerks we played last time EVEN THO THEY PUSHED US AND BEAT US UP [I'm still kinda mad at those losers] we will still be playing them. Well that's my life...I don't think I did too bad for my first post.

Friday Night Basketball

Last night, a number of the young men played their first scrimmage game. Considering they had not played together before, and didn't get many points on the board, they showed a lot of potential. No, they didn't win. They were disappointed, but neither we (the families) nor Ivan (their coach) were.

John (JB), Steven, Tim, Dustin, Michael, and Ian were our bigger guys. Grumpy (Chris), Happy (Jeremy), Sneezy (Josh), and Doc (Simon) were our younger ones.

Well, I finally figured out how to post pictures! And it was actually easier than I realized -- DUH!

Are we ready for winter? These are a couple of Chris' masterpieces, taken 01/01/08 outside of our house, after getting about eight inches of snow overnight. Sure, it looks beautiful, but I'm not ready for this. Even though I've always had thoughts of quiet, snowy days, I have to be realistic.

BepiKay, you can have it... I'll enjoy it from inside, looking out my window, hopefully listening to soothing music and drinking green tea with lemon... hey, a mom can dream, can't she??

The Great Christmas Debate '08

So, we have some people who would wear Christmas tree sweaters in ninety degree weather and listen to Christmas music year round (BepiKay, I'm callin' you out). I have no problem with that. I love Christmas music. I have a CD where I've burned (legally) a few different versions of "My Favorite Things" and "Carol of the Bells." I have enjoyed baking Christmas cookies with my kids. I even get a rush out of making Christmas dinner, even though I am too dead to eat it when it's done.

That having been said, I really think it's hard to get into the 'spirit' of things when I'm outside without a coat in November... it's also hard to get into the aforementioned 'spirit' when some of the Christmas music is so incredibly treacly (look it up). Chris refers to that music as 'dulled-down, vapid, and infantile.' Okay, we like using words...

What's up with all this Star Wars craziness?

Tonight, the boys are attending a Star Wars Pocket Model tournament. Chris attended one back in September, and said it was, 'the bomb.' For those who do not speak Cool Teen, that means it was awesome. This time, they want to dress as Star Wars characters. Chris wants to look like Darth Maull (sp?), which means really ugly red makeup on his face. I don't know what I'm doing, but I'll try.

Jordan wants to be Mace Windu, which basically means a boring, tan outfit. I think I can handle that one. We'll see.

I guess there are worse things they could want to do.

Not much to post. Tim is coming for a visit, and is flying in tonight. He has a three hour layover in Denver, both ways. I anticipate the next few days will involve a lot of video games, GI Joe animated movies in their room, and a possible trip to the mall and Blimpy Burger for my three sons. That's so cool. And the best part of it is, it's all usually on Tim's dime! All I have to do is smile and wave bye-bye :)

Chris amazes me. We call him 'Bruce Lee-Roy.' It's kind of a 'black thang,' since most Black people that I know, knows SOMEone named Leroy, like my great-uncle. It's also a tribute to his being a brown belt in karate (sort of a 'sawed-off' Bruce Lee). He draws, and takes awesome scenic pictures. He is seriously thinking about going into photography. He likes old black and white movies (thanks to Tim), plays pocket models, and does the typical teen stuff (basketball, sleep in whenever possible, trash his room, inhale food before it hits the table). Yet, for some reason, this budding genius always overcomplicates the simplest math problems. The hard stuff, he figures out pretty well. The easiest problems, he takes the scenic route to get to the answer. I usually look at him and shake my head. Must be a sign of his future greatness...

Anyway, I want to post some of his photographic memories, but I don't know how, and the genius can't tell me! HELP!!

We Need Help!

I was just wondering... is there a support group for parents of Star Wars Pocket Models addicts? Even during our school day, these people constantly talk about Pocket Models, using words like "rares," "uncommons," "base set," "scum and villany;" and I constantly hear names like "Mace Windu," "Darth Maull," and "Plo Koon." Chris even made up a song sung to the "Addams Family" theme about the Skywalker family. I am only posting this because he asked me to. I had nothing to do with this foolishness.

Okay, so I'm not the fastest pony out the gates. I was the last one in my family to have a microwave, an answering machine, a VCR, a computer, a DVD player, and a cell phone. So, yes, I am finally getting these kids a blog, after much pestering. I guess my inner Bohemian Flower Child persona does NOT want to become a slave to these things. Funny thing is, I LOVE being on the computer, and I am the resident electronics expert. If I'm gonna own some stuff, I'm gonna know all about my stuff.
